Yummy’s Korean Grill is found in Orem, Utah. It is located directly underneath a huge apartment like complex. It stands out pretty well with its huge sign and larger architecture as compared to the other smaller businesses around it.

I went to Yummy’s on a Wednesday afternoon around 1pm. It was slightly busy, but not anything to turn away future customers. I was instantly seated down towards the middle of the restaurant. There were a few business men eating lunch together around me and a few small families eating lunch together. The restaurant was all decorated and themed to feel like I was in Korea.

There were lots of Korean symbols, pottery, statues, and lights decorations that were hanging up around the restaurant. It was also dimly lit. This was kindof surprising because it was very sunny outside, but the windows were almost all completely covered by dark shades making it very dim to see through.

The waiter came instantly after sitting down and gave us our menus and drinks right away. Yummy’s is very unique in the fact that you can choose to cook your own food at your table, or you can just order food that the chefs cook for you. All of the tables are equipped with small fire pit like things in them which allow you to cook your own food. It costs more to cook your own food, and I was also very hungry and wanted to eat right away, so I did not order raw meats to cook on my own. Instead, I ordered the katsu chicken and my husband ordered the teriyaki chicken. We waited for a little over ten minutes before our food came out.

The katsu chicken and teriyaki chicken as seen in the pictures, were very big! I was not expecting so much meat. These meals also came with a ton of sides, many of which I still don’t know what they are. I did recognize squash, potatoes, Korean cole slaw, and macaroni. The others, I didn’t know what they were and didn’t understand what the waiter called them.

Personally, I really enjoyed the katsu chicken. It tastes very similar to Aloha Plate or Mo’Bettahs which are also both found in Utah. I did not like the teriyaki chicken though. It was too rubbery and boney for me. The sides were very good and tasted well. I didn’t like one of the sides though which was sort of spicy and red.

The macaroni was probably my favorite side, but I think that’s just because it was more normal to me than the other sides. The potatoes and the squash were good, however, they were very cold and wet and just tasted funny. The amount of food was very good compared to the price. However, I would say it was a bit expensive for my liking. All of the staff was very nice and friendly. They were also pretty quick. I would recommend coming to try Yummy’s at least once. I don’t know if I will go again just because of how expensive it was.
