Sushi House

If anyone’s been paying attention to new restaurants in Utah, they’ve probably noticed the seemingly unusually high number of sushi places popping up all around, especially in Salt Lake and Utah counties. While this is great for all sushi lovers living in Utah, it also makes deciding where to go to get good sushi more difficult.

Sushi House in American Fork is another one of those many sushi restaurants located throughout American Fork, and can therefore be easily overlooked, but is still worth visiting, especially if you love all-you-can-eat sushi. Sushi House is located off the 500 East exit in American Fork, on the Northeast side of the interstate. It’s a little hidden and easy to pass by, so just turn right at the first light after getting off the interstate bridge, turn right again, and it’s tucked away alongside some other small businesses.

To be honest, Sushi House is barely distinguishable from many other generic sushi restaurants, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not worth a visit. The location is large, with plenty of seating, accommodating for just a couple eating out or a sizeable group. The waiting staff are very kind and quick, which is especially nice if you’re doing all-you-can-eat.

One edge that Sushi House has over other sushi restaurants is the speed at which their sushi is prepared. I’ve been to plenty of sushi restaurants, and this is one of the quickest, which for me makes a big difference when it comes to all-you-can-eat sushi by the order, because waiting for each order to come can take up a lot of time, especially if you end up ordering a lot.

As I’ve mentioned a few times, the highlight of Sushi House for me was the all-you-can-eat option. Unlike many all-you-can-eat places that you order food at, Sushi House is very quick with each order, greatly reducing the wait between orders of sushi. The variety of sushi rolls available to order is nothing out of the ordinary, with the typical roles seen at most sushi restaurants available, plus a decent number of rolls with a little “Sushi House” uniqueness, but still nothing spectacular or surprising.

That being said, their varieties of nigiri is more varied than most places I’ve seen, giving the opportunity for avid seafood lovers to explore new tastes not regularly available. Mostly, the varieties are different types of fish (like red snapper, tuna, etc.), but they also have more diverse seafood options, like fish eggs, shrimp, and crab, all of which are simply delicious. Because this restaurant is in Utah, getting big slabs of raw fish is always slightly concerning, but we weren’t disappointed with a single piece of fish we got at Sushi House. It all seemed to be very high-quality, which is always a nice feeling. While this all-you-can-eat option is quite expensive, about $18 a person, it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for a nice meal and you love sushi.
