The Suit Up Shopping event is one of the best kept secrets for students and families in Utah. With all of the new up and coming tech start ups in Utah, many require different types of work clothes attire, some professional, business casual, and even casual casual. It can be hard to buy business professional clothes when you haven’t even started working yet! This is where the Suit Up Shopping Event comes to play. This event is hosted by JC Penney, but only occurs in the Provo Towne Center location twice a year!

Typically, this event is only for students at BYU or UVU, but more recently, this event has been extended to members of the community as well. The tricky part is the sale is first come first serve. Occurring in October and April, there is only 3 hours on a thursday evening where the sale exists. You must bring some form of ID in order to get the deal, but it is totally worth it.

I have gone to this event at least four times over the past few years, and it has been a different experience every time. My first time going, there were not very many people there, so I was easily able to find clothes, shoes, and accessories that fit me, and were what I wanted. This past time I went, it was pretty chaotic. More people had found out about the great deals and lots of items were picked over. It was still a great deal to go, I just didn’t get as much as I normally would have because of how busy it was.

The sales form the Suit Up event equate to between 50-60% off.

This is super helpful especially when it comes to suits and nice shirts! I literally spent $100, when the amount of things I bought would have equalled over $500. So, everything is definitely a deal. If you are a JC Penney rewards member, you will also get a bigger discount when your rewards start to add up over time.

I would recommend getting to the sale as soon as it begins. People tend to run a few minutes late, and with traffic in Utah, people also tend to get stuck in traffic and it takes longer to get around. Normally the event starts right around 4 or 5. This is also when most students are still in class or getting dinner. THe event typically lasts until close, sometimes it will end right at 9pm. It is a fantastic event that I would recommend to all adults. It isn’t very fun for children, so I would not suggest bringing them especially as more crowds tend to come in the later part of the day. Otherwise, all sorts of brands and attire are on sale. All sizes are available with all sorts of colors and items. You can literally find suits, belts, socks, tights, skirts, ties, underwear, and even bags on sale. The idea is anything to dress to impress for interviews and jobs.
