Studio Core Pilates is found in Draper, Utah. This up and coming new way of working out, is becoming widely popular among many people. Although it is a more expensive way of working out, many people enjoy pilates because of its muscle building, toning, and flexibility it provides, rather than just the flexibility and strengthening you get from yoga.

Studio Core Pilates is found right at the base of the mountains in Draper. It is at a beautiful location, if you take morning classes, the sun comes up right as you begin your pilates session. I found the cheapest way to go to Studio Core Pilates was with a groupon that I found. Typically, classes here average $25 for an hour. That’s pretty expensive, especially if you are wanting a daily workout regime that you enjoy. With the groupon, you can go to 3 or 5 classes of your choice for between $25-40 dollars (depending on when you find the groupon and what classes you are wanting to take).

Originally I was pretty upset with the pricing, especially because if you go to a recreation center, pilates classes average between $2-5. However, after attending three different pilates classes at Studio Core Pilates, I have found that the extra money is actually worth it, since you are using machine specific exercises that typical recreation centers don’t have. This results in deeper muscle toning and strengthening than just using mat or ball pilates. Studio Core Pilates focuses mostly on machine specific pilates, but they do offer ball and mat pilates, which I would recommend saving for the recreation centers to save your pennies.

Besides cost, the classes are fantastic! I left super sore after all three classes I took, and I consider myself pretty toned being a dancer, runner, and swimmer. This isn’t to say if you aren’t fit, that you shouldn’t do the pilates classes. They are for everyone, and you can change the difficulty of the classes by adjusting the strength of the springs on the machine, as well as the weights and the bands. I really enjoyed the class specifically that worked on leg strength with the pink bands that dangled from the ceiling. This class was really fun since we did lots of ballet barre type exercises as well, and I felt super stretched out afterwards.

The only thing I would caution of, is the owner of the studio is a little bit “peppy.” She isn’t the friendliest to newcomers. Every time I walked in, she would be cordial, but she only talked with those customers who came every day. It shouldn’t bother you or anyone in the class, but just to be warned if you are a very social person. The class is still great, and you definitely get your money’s worth, but it is slightly awkward with the owner.

Make sure to reserve your class ahead of time online, since space fills up fast, and only 10 people are allowed per class. Classes range all day everyday, except sunday only has 2-3 options.
