Looking for something fun to do? Looking for something to do to get you outside in the fresh air? What about something a little bit more active? Do you love the mountains? Pine Hollow Trail Adventure is perfect for you then! Pine Hollow is a trailhead found in American Fork Canyon. You can pay to have a guide, or just pay the park fee for the day and join the tour. This hike in the summer is amazing, but in the winter, snowshoeing is a blast!

The entire trail is about an hour and half there and back, if you take the longer trail. If you take the shorter trail, its about an hour and fifteen minutes there and back. It is very steep! Be sure to bring appropriate shoes and clothes. It is absolutely beautiful though! After the first fifteen minutes of snowshoeing, we saw moose tracks and lots of moose scat. Not less than twenty minutes later, we saw a moose! It was incredible! We were probably about fifteen feet away from the moose. As we kept going along the trail, we found more moose tracks and saw many birds and a few squirrels.

The trail is gorgeous. You are literally climbing on the side of a mountain going around the mountain. You gain elevation pretty quickly and then you come around another mountain. You can see over the road that takes you up to the trail as well as the parking lot in which you park your car to hike up. Across the mountain, you can see some lodges and at the time, kids sledding down a portion of the mountain.

The day I went, was so nice! The weather was just perfect. I had my snowshoes on and was wearing a coat with leggings. It was just warm enough outside that I didn’t need my coat and was still sweating! Birds were flying around overhead everywhere and some even landed on trees nearby as we hiked along. A few baby birds could be spotted in nests above and you could hear them chirp while you passed through. A note of caution, this trail has hundreds of trees alongside it! If you are tall, you will be ducking almost the entire hike until you get to the top of the trail! Its definitely worth it, but just a warning.

We saw some people camping out in patches of trails over on top of our trails. There was also a few cross country skiers. Our guide mentioned that this trail is pretty popular because it isn’t as difficult as other winter trails and has an incredible view at the end.

There were several bathrooms along the way which was nice. There was also a few water fountains to keep you hydrated. Overall, this was probably one of my favorite snowshoeing experiences yet. It was not too difficult, and the weather was just perfect. The scenery is amazing and we saw wildlife which was a plus! I definitely recommend coming back to the canyon when its warmer to see even more wildlife, waterfalls, and greenery.
