If you love yoga, or even like yoga, this is the event for you! I am a huge yoga fan, I typically only go to yoga classes at recreation centers, so this was a new adventure for me. I would totally recommend coming here (especially on a “free day”) whether you are new to yoga, or a master yogi.

The Yoga Underground is found in Provo, Utah. It is literally right next to BYU and the Vasa Fitness Center. You cant miss it, the giant purple sign displaying “YOGA” stand out a ton. This yoga event is not actually underground, it is just a very natural setting and a cool name for the company. Yoga Underground typically hosts several weeks of “free yoga.” I went on their last day (Friday) of free yoga and it was a blast. I recommend following them on facebook to find out when their free weeks are. Be sure to get there at least 20 minutes early though. I got there 20 minutes early, and got the last spot in the yoga room. It is definitely worth it to go!
The yoga room is very natural looking and feeling. Plants cover the studio from wall to ceiling, as well as many paintings of nature and the environment. The lights remain off the entire time you are there for your yoga practice.

Windows line the front of the room with curtains to allow slips of light. Gently music plays in the background, and the room is very quiet. The ceiling and floors are completely made of wood, and because it is a new studio, it smells of wood as well.
The instructors are awesome. They demonstrate each movement and help you with your alignment if necessary. The yoga class was an hour long, and was very relaxing. Out of all of the yoga classes I have been to, this is probably my favorite. It truly helps to be in an inviting and yoga atmosphere. I got super sweaty, but the instructor worked up gently to the point of being sweaty and would gently push us to try harder and get stronger. The owners dog sometimes would come into the room and allow you to take a break and pet him. This was a great way to let your muscles relax if you were feeling overwhelmed.

The yoga class I went to was just a basic yoga class, the Yoga Underground offers a variety of yoga classes including meditation, power yoga, healing yoga, chair yoga, and even yoga certifications. They have a variety of instructors and truly provide an amazing yoga experience. Be aware to bring your own mat or rent one of theirs for $1.
Outside of the yoga room, there is a boutique where you can purchase mats, shirts, yoga pants, blocks, bags, hats, jackets, jewelry, yoga sayings, boards, bands, décor, and paintings. I didn’t take a good look at the prices, but they seemed reasonable. The Yoga Underground offers membership monthly plans. These are available in several different pricing packages. I definitely recommend trying out at least one class!
