Swim Kids Grand Opening

This event was very unique. It was fun, but it was different and very crowded! Swim Kids is a new swimming lesson focused company. They specialize in providing 10 levels of private swimming lessons to all ages. Anyone can sign up for a 15 minute private swimming lesson with a certified and trained instructor. You don’t have to have prior swimming lesson knowledge. Swim Kids is found in Pleasant Grove, UT. There are several other locations such as St. George, Lehi, and Salt Lake City. Each location has a very small pool. None of the pools are deeper than about 6 feet. There is enough room for about 30 people to be in the pool.

Swim Kids had their grand opening to celebrate the start of swimming lessons in Pleasant Grove. There was free food and snacks, a spinning wheel to win a variety of prizes, balloons, water games, and normal outside games to play in the lobby. Parents could also talk with a variety of instructors and look at pricing options for themselves or for their kids and could sign up immediately.

How Swim Kids works, is everyone starts out at level 1, which I believe is the sea urchin. Instructors will schedule a time to meet with you for 15 minutes. If you have never swam before, the instructor will assess your comfort level in the water and see how you react to getting in the water.

For those that have swam before, the instructor will test out your knowledge and have you show them what you know how to do in the water. Levels 1-5 are mostly learning how to float, blow bubbles, and put your face in the water. After level 5, you will start learning and perfecting technique for front stroke, back stroke, breast stroke, and butterfly. I met most of the instructors and they are all super nice! Some are more outgoing than others, but they all have different personalities to match the different personalities of the swimming students.

There is a fun inside park section for little kids to play in while they wait for their siblings or for their own lessons. There are some little slides, toys, games, and bean bags. It is very kid friendly. There is also a swim gear mini store inside the location where you can purchase specialized goggles, swim toys, swim gear such as swim suits, coverups, swim shirts, and even kickboards/diving sticks. This mini store is a little more pricey than buying from target or Walmart or amazon. But, it is really high quality gear and you cant go wrong.

The swimming pool is very small and its nearly impossible for anyone to drown in. It is kept super warm, and there are showers right next to the pool. Swim Kids requires that everyone showers before and after their swim lesson. There are also family locker rooms as well as family showers in the back behind the pool to change and prepare for each lesson.

This event was fun to meet the new staff and to learn about Swim Kids. They mentioned a groupon for a discount off on new clients!
