Have you ever wanted to experience something like being a professional diver for one day, Want to add a caption to this image? Click the Settings icon. but not have to pay the full amount to get certified, just so you can try the experience to see if you like it?

Dive Utah provides just this opportunity! Pay a small fee (especially with a discount code or Groupon) and you can scuba dive with real gear on for up to 45 minutes!

This is a fantastic way to learn how to use the scuba diving gear, actually use the gear, and

actually experience what scuba diving is like (without the fish, coral, and amazing views though). This awesome event takes place in a large submarine like building. The building literally looks like a submarine from the outside, and that is how you know that you are in the right place. Upon walking in, you are greeted by professional scuba diving masters and instructors.

Gear, snorkel stuff, wetsuits, swimsuits are all for sale around the main entrance. There is fun

windows to take pictures next to as well as ship steering wheels and giant sea horses. Check-in at the front and you will then be escorted to the back. A twenty-minute safety class is taught and you must pass an easy 10 question quiz about ear drum safety in the water as well as hand signaling (because you cant talk under water). The instructors go over everything you need to know and answer any questions you might have. Then, the participants are escorted downstairs to the pool area and everyone changes into their swimsuits or wetsuits. The scuba masters and instructors will gather your gear for you and

help you into the water to put it on.

The water is SUPER warm. Wetsuits are good if you get cold in the water, but I was just fine with a swim suit. Once everyone is in their scuba gear, the instructors have you put on a snorkel first to get used to the feeling of breathing under the water. This is great especially if it is your first-time snorkeling or scuba diving. Then, the instructors will show everyone how to put the breathing piece in your mouth and breathe effectively underwater. Before letting everyone go to swim around the huge pool on their own, you must proficiently pass a two-skill test.

The first skill to proficiently pass is the ability to take out your breather piece and put it back in under water without choking or having issues. The instructors walk you through how to do this and make sure everyone can do it comfortably for safety measures. Second, you must pass the ability to have water enter your goggles, and then empty the water out underwater. It is actually really cool and useful, especially if you are a swimmer. Both skills are demonstrated, and everyone does them together. They are not hard, and anyone can do it.

On to swim! Be aware that your ears must acclimate under water, so it may take a few minutes before you can actually swim in the 12 foot zone. I loved being able to just swim around the shallow part of the pool and hear myself breath under water and experience what scuba diving is like. There are some swim toys that you can throw in the pool to make your experience more interesting, but I thought it was amazing just to look and feel like a scuba diver.

At the end of the experience, the instructors offer a sign up for certification. This is great if you really enjoyed scuba diving and want to be certified to scuba dive in the ocean. After completing this experience, you can get a pretty good discount on being certified. This event is for all ages and is an amazing experience. I highly recommend to anyone who has wanted to try snorkeling or scuba diving.
