Powder Mountain is found in Eden, Utah. It is actually right across the valley from Nordic Valley Ski Resort. It is hidden in between mountain ranges, but it is worth the drive! Its about an hour and a half drive from Provo, but its very scenic and the roads are pretty flat until the last climb up to Powder Mountain Resort.

I drove up all the way to Powder Mountain because of skiing! I had heard friends recommend checking out Powder Mountain, and so I decided to go see for myself. Powder Mountain is home to over 100 different ski trails, each with varying levels of difficulty. They also have snow tubing, ice skating, hot tubs, lodges, restaurants, and even activities like hiking, swimming, and fishing in the summertime. Since Powder Mountain is so big, I didn’t really have time to see all that is offered, but I got a good taste of the skiing offered.

Powder Mountain has $30 night skiing passes which start at 3 and go until 9. This is the best ski deal I have found so far, besides getting a ski season pass.

The staff are super nice, but I would say Nordic Valley employees are a little more friendly and willing to help if you are learning how to ski. The resort is beautiful! It is huge and has tons of activities and comfortable couches if you get too cold or tired from skiing and need a break. Powder Mountain also has highly decorated buildings. You cant get lost in the snow because the building is multicolored. The day I went, they hosted a free all womens skiing challenge. All levels could participate to win ski gear and a free ski pass for another day. I overheard some employees that they have competitions like this every weekend, which makes skiing more fun and competitive if you are into that sort of thing.

There is a ski school that you can register for lessons if desired. As part of the resort, the bunny hill is quite large and has a weird pulley system to help you get up to the top. I had to stay on the bunny trail for an hour or so because the snow at Powder Mountain is as its name implies, powdery, and it makes it harder to glide while skiing. Basically, you wait in the spot at the bottom of the hill and wire with several orange handles that are spaced out are rotated constantly around in a circle.

When the orange handle comes to you, you grab onto it, and the pulley starts to pull you up the hill. It feels like a jerk, at first, but as you try it multiple times, it gets easier and easier to use. The ski lift is super fast and literally drops you off at the top of the mountain. I recommend knowing which trails you want to do ahead of time, because once you leave the lift, you have 10 seconds to decide which trail to take down to the bottom of the mountain. Its super fun, but if you are a beginner, there are several black diamonds trails that sit right next to the green trails which can be scary.
