The Pond Town Christmas is located in Salem, Utah. It is also known as Knoll Park. This event only happens once a year and is totally worth the drive up to Salem. It started at 6pm and the lights and activities stayed on until 11pm. It can be hard to find, as the lake is not visible from below the hill.

There is a lot of parking available both at the top of the hill, where the event center is, or below by the park. Once the lights turn on, there are huge trees all over the lake that float and are decorated in beautiful lights! Almost every color is represented. The trees float on top of the water, and the lights reflect underneath them. If you walk around the lake, there is even more trees to see. Sometimes the neighboring houses are all lit up as well. There is a huge bridge that connects across the lake, it is lit up and allows you to see both halves of the lake at once. Snowflakes decorate the bridge sides. On the right side of the lake, there are several animals lit up. Whales are at the far corner blowing water decorated by lights all around. A flamingo circles around in the water. A pelican stretches its legs in the water. There are some pretty cool water features that dance along the shore of the lake with lights shooting up in between them.

If it gets to cold to be by the lake, the event center has a lot to do! There are Christmas crafts and decorating to do inside the event center. There are food available for purchase include hot chocolate and marshmallows. Hay rides are completely free and start at the top where the event center is. Santa is also available for a visit!

At the bottom by the parking lot, there is huge cement platform where a band will play when it first starts. I got there right after they left, so I missed it, but I am sure it was worth it to go early! There is also a huge sign displaying “Pond Town Christmas” with penguins all around decorated in lights. There are a few polar bears as well which stand near the sign.

While I was walking around the lake, several ducks came up to me. They walked around for a bit. You aren’t supposed to feed the ducks, but locals did previously which is why the ducks are very friendly. One of the locals mentioned coming back in the spring when a bunch of baby ducks can be seen swimming around the lake. They are very noisy, but its fun to see them and have them follow you around as you enjoy the lights.

Right before I left, I found a huge field where hundreds of trees were decorated with lights displayed on them. There was also a fun rock park for kids to play on. I recommend coming for not only the lights, but the spring festival which can be found on Facebook in the future.
