Whether you are a skier or not, Nordic Valley is certainly an awesome place to check out! I had never been skiing before and my husband skis all of the time. He said this was one of his favorite skiing resorts yet. Nordic Valley is found in a tiny city called Eden, which is just Northeast of Ogden. It is tucked away in a valley between the mountains, which is why this is such a great ski resort. You cant see it at first when you pop up in between the mountains, but eventually you will drive right up to the resort.

This ski resort is perfect for 3 reasons. One, this resort is never busy. Unlike Sundance and Park City, this ski resort is hardly ever busy. I have friends who go every other day and they have never had to wait in line for the lift. When my husband and I went with our friends, we didn’t have to wait at all for any of the 5 lifts they have in operation. Even the day we went, there were 3 lifts down because there was too much snow to ski. This perfect for first time learners (such as myself) as well as expert skiers (such as my husband).

One of my friends is amazing at skiing and goes all of the time, and there wasnt any people on the trails she did.

Two, Nordic Valley has a beginners spot to learn. I was super nervous to try skiing because of all of the horror stories I have heard about crowded areas, and bad injuries, and how slippery the slopes can be. Nordic Valley has a small little area available for anyone to come and learn how to ski on an almost flat slope. There is just the smallest hill where you can practice and then a little tubing like escalator to take you back up to the registration area to ski down again. It is seriously super flat! I learned how to ski just in under two hours on that surface. There was a really nice operator of the escalator who was a retired ski teacher and skier who also helped to teach me as I went up the escalator and would ski down the surface towards him. It also helps that there was hardly anyone there so I had the whole section to myself.

Three, Nordic Valley has a huge range of trails open to ski. As mentioned above, I was able to ski down the super easy beginners path while my husband was able to ski down the greens and blues trails. He even was able to go down a nature path trail that was marked as hard and had lots of jumps and bumps. There are trails with every level of difficulty for anyone.

I highly recommend skiing at Nordic Valley also because it is cheap. I was able to pay $35 for a lift pass from 3-8 (night skiing) and then pay for rentals at BYU Outdoors Unlimited for $15. Super cheap skiing with no lines, and trails for anyone doesn’t get better than that! Prices do go up for the day pass, but the sun was out and I wasn’t cold until after 9pm. They also kept the trails well lit.
