Malls can be really fun to walk around since they all differ! If you have walked around University Place Orem, there is both an outside and inside component to walk around as well as several activities for kids to play and do. Layton Mall is no different. This mall is actually rather large and takes over two hours to walk through the entire thing. It is also partly under construction to continue to expand. I happened to be up in Layton, Utah and figured to walk around the mall where some other cool activities and events were taking place.

If you saw earlier postings, the Seaquest aquarium is here at Layton mall! This can be found on the top floor of the mall directly above the Weber State kids play area. Even if you aren’t a fan of the mall, check out Seaquest! The Weber state play area is also really fun for kids. Its like a giant indoor play ground except its unique. There are giant apples, oranges, broccoli, and other various foods for kids to climb on and play on. If I remember right, there are also two or three small houses for kids to play inside and hide in.

Besides these fun activities, there is a train that actually goes through the mall! Keep in mind, it isn’t a full sized train, but it is kiddie sized. Anyone can ride it, although it does cost $5 to ride throughout the mall. There are several parts to the train and it actually blows steam and whistles as it drives around. This is also a fun experience for kids. I didn’t ride the train since it was pretty full already, but I could tell it is a popular attraction amongst kids.
Most malls and stores have the mechanical animals that you put a quarter in and ride. Layton has an entire section devoted to this! Kids can choose form up to 8 different mechanical animals or cars to ride around in for a quarter.

There are also brand new scooter like fuzzy animals that anyone can ride around the mall. They sit behind a white picket fence and I believe it costs $5 to ride them for a few minutes. They go really fast and zoom down the mall hallways. These aren’t as popular and I'm guessing its because they are a bit more expensive.
Lastly, this mall has many game and activity stores. Traditionally, malls have lots of clothing and food stores, but Layton mall has changed to be almost solely an experience mall. There are various lazer tag, virtual reality stores, massage and nail salons, game stops, rare and unique board games, and the usual Disney store. All of these stores allow you to try a “trail” before actually paying to participate or buy the product/service. Layton Mall is very unique and if you happen to be up in Layton looking for cheap , fun things to do, stop by the mall and maybe even Seaquest!
