Most people think that they have to travel to California or Florida in order to be in the “Frozen” world at Disneyland and Disneyworld. But just like the Harry Potter world at South Towne mall, the ice castles provide a glimpse into being in “Frozen!”

Visiting the ice castles is an incredible experience! It is full of magic, tricks, and lights! It can be a bit pricey as tickets range from $15-40, but it is worth it to go at least once. The Ice Castles are found in Midway, Utah. They are typically only open at night between December – February when the ice can stay frozen for longer periods of time. Make sure to bundle up though, because after all, you will be in a solid ice, ice castle!

Be aware, you must reserve tickets online before going to see the ice castles. The ice castles are very popular and are often sold out up to two weeks in advance, so get them now! If you order your tickets at the very beginning of December, they can offer up to 50% off, making it cheaper to go to the Ice Castles.

The ice castles are not visible from the road, so be sure to follow the trail of Christmas lights up to the ticket booth. After checking in, you will see the ice castles! Sometimes Anna and Elsa from “Frozen” will be standing outside for photo opportunities which can be really fun for the kids!

Thousands of lights are underneath the ice to provide a spectacular lights show on the ice. Watch the ice change colors and glow! As you explore the ice castles, that are several things to do. Some slides are hidden in corners of the ice castles that you can slide down on. A particular slide requires you to find the hidden staircase up in order to slide down! There are also huge chairs and thrones made of ice to sit on. Several different areas of the ice have words written in them for nice photo opportunities.

Once you make it to the other side of the castles, there is a fire show performed by fire dancers! The show goes on about every half an hour, and they flip sticks of fire and dance with fire in the ice castles. It is definitely warmer over by the fire dancers, so if you start to feel cold, this a great way to warm up. There are also fire pits spread out to warm your hands if you start to get cold.

One of my favorite things to do in the ice castles (as I go every year), is to wander through the little caves in the ice. When the ice castles are forming sometimes little caves and pathways are formed. Kids can fit a lot easier in these and can lead to secret rooms within the ice castles, but sometimes adults can fit too. Its really fun to explore and see where the pathways take you. Be sure to go soon!
