Gamer Planet is found in Sandy, Utah. It is located right off the interstate next to the South Towne mall. Gamer Planet is incredible and is targeted for all ages, but especially teenagers and gamers. Gamer Planet has several options of things to do. Most obviously, you play games. There are two huge rows of super fancy computers, screens, monitors, stations, and chairs. Many people come to play games on the computer such as League of Legends and Fortnite. This experience provides teenagers and gamers the atmosphere to all play in the same room and same spot together. The computers are specifically designed to support and withstand gaming data. Plays pay $4 for one hour of game time, or they can purchase game time packages.

Besides gaming on the computer, Gamer Planet also provides Wii, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, as well as several other gaming systems to play on. You must reserve time ahead of time in order to play games on these systems, but there are lots of time spaces open even hours before you plan on playing a game. Gamer Planet has a huge room in the back decorated with Mario characters and Mario collectables to put you in the gaming mood. The entire room is designed for optimal screen play and screen time. There are no windows for glare, and super nice coaches and sofas are available.

The last option at Gamer Planet is Virtual Reality gaming. I was super excited about Virtual Reality and the experience was amazing. There are 4 different VR stations for use. Only one player can experience VR at a time.

There is a super fancy coach behind each VR set so that other players can take a break and watch the screen while you experience VR. I called and scheduled my VR session about two weeks ahead of time for a Saturday evening. Gamer Planet was super busy! But most of the attention was on the computers. Every monitor was taken by a gamer and there was a waitlist to play games. The VR sets and the game set room both were open for use and there was no wait for them. The worker helped me get all set up and choose the game I wanted to experience in VR. I chose “theBlu” which I had seen great reviews on previously. This VR experience allowed me to “interact” with a giant blue whale and “discover coral reefs”. It was absolutely amazing.

You literally feel like you are snorkeling in an ocean. The whale came up super close as well as other fish that I thought were right in front of me. The one disappointing thing about theBlu, is the fact that you cant “swim around”. You are stuck in one place to just wait for the fish to swim up to you. You can turn your body and head around, but most of it is just watching and waiting.

I also played a game called BeatSaber which was fun in VR. It was basically like GuitarHero and lightsabers combined. I thought it was a great experience and would certainly go at least once to experience VR for yourself.
