Do you love to see Christmas lights, but don’t want to walk around in the cold? Do you have small children that don’t last long outside, but you want to do something festive for the holidays? The Festival of Lights is the event for you! The Spanish Fork Festival of Lights is an absolutely incredible experience! This year was my first time going, and I think it will become a tradition in my family. It is located near Spanish Fork canyon, about 45 minutes from Provo. But, it is absolutely worth it!

Admission is eight dollars per family car. The Festival of Lights lasts through December 6pm to 10pm. You can find the Festival of Lights right off of the interstate. Follow the Christmas lights and arrows, and they will lead you straight to the entrance! The entire event requires you to stay in your car, so don’t worry about dressing warmly!

After you pay at the entrance, tune your radio to 99.7 and Christmas music match the lights dancing. Giant nutcrackers will greet you as you go down the hill into the lights arena. Hundreds of lights are visible for a little over 10 miles. After driving over the hill, a light up nativity is visible which is quite unique. A giant lake sits in the middle of the lights area, but that doesn’t mean there are not any lights! If you look closely enough, a huge water monster appears out of the water. There are a few lighthouses in the back, as well as a Candy Cane factory. As you continue on the road, a snowflake light up path will guide you (or the cars in front if it is super busy that night).

After you pass the giant light up Santa to welcome you into the festival, you will pass through the Snowflake land where all of the penguins and polar bears are ice skating and ice fishing. Most lights dance around to the music and display a lot of movements which is really cool to see. After Snowflake land, you will enter Toyland where all of the toys and presents are.

Toyland is full of nutcrackers, ballerinas, rocking horses (that actually rock), presents, soldiers, and even a jack in the box, pop out along your journey and surprise you. My favorite part, after going through the snowflake and butterfly tunnels, was seeing the small replica of the Disney castle! Repunzel sits on top, and Eugene is at the bottom waiting for her to throw her hair down!

Then you enter Animal land. This was my husbands favorite. Giant whales squirt water lights around. Frogs are jumping around or eating flies. A bear eats a fish in the water as the swim around underneath him, and there are a few horses being rode around. But before its all over, there are some ice skaters and country skiiers that flash their way around the water and snow.

The Festival of Lights takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, it mostly depends on how fast you drive through the lights. Bring you cameras and enjoy the lights show!
