Domo is a company that was started in Utah. It is headquartered in American Fork, although its outreach is beyond. Domo provides software and data analytics for companies both big and small. Often times, Domo is a huge donor and sponsor for many events and activities around Utah. This event in particular was a networking and job placement opportunity for anyone and everyone.

Once a month, companies like Domo, all around Utah host networking lunches and events for workers, interns, and prospective workers to network and improve their experiences. This last month, Domo hosted. Participants were able to tour one of the many Domo buildings that surround Domo Campus. We were also given a nice sandwich lunch with chips and cookies. Everyone was escorted to a giant Domo conference room where we were able to network and meet with all sorts of employees and coworkers. After the lunch, everyone was able to mingle until the presentation started.
The presentation gave a lot of helpful information into understanding Domo, what their main focus is, and how to get involved. Domo actually means “thank you” in Japanese.

The company was started by a BYU Alumni who served a mission in Japan. The purpose of Domo is to help huge companies and small companies like Goldman Sachs, Podium, Walmart, and Weave to gather and access big data and data in general for their research and work purposes. Domo has created their own software as well as software trainings so that each and every employee is able to help an interested business figure out and interpret their data to make improvements and help their companies to improve. The presentation gave a demonstration showing the kind of information that Domo is able to help access and interpret for current and previous customers.
Then, Domo shared skills and job requirements in order to be hired to work for Domo.

Luckily, if you have background in computer science or a related major, Domo trainings can be very easy to complete and work at Domo. Otherwise, Domo has free “Domo certifications” where students can sign up entirely for free, learn tableau and other useful coding languages and programs that Domo employees use everyday, and then become certified to work for Domo, or to be connected with other companies who use Domo or want to use Domo in the future. These companies are included as working partners with Domo and have lots of jobs that need to be filled. So even if you don’t enjoy networking, you can easily find a job by completing and becoming certified with Domo.

Afterwards, we all took pictures and emails were sent out so that everyone can invite their friends to the next company connections meet and greet. They happen once a month a trade off with other local companies in Utah to expand connections and networks. Be sure to come if you are interested in a job locally or even just to network. Note, children are not allowed, and you must be at least a college student to attend, if not already working.
