The Deer Valley Music Festival is an amazing experience that I would definitely prioritize at least once during the summer in Utah. It is found only in Park City, Utah. This festival is a highly sought after event that is often sold out, so make sure to get your tickets quick!
The music festival is hosted by Deer Valley Resort which is a ski resort in the winter months, and music festival resort in the summer. It is always crowded with thousands of people - which just shows how popular and beautiful this truly is. Tickets run at least $20 per person, sometimes more depending on the music, performers, and the locations of your seats. When a very famous person comes to play or sing, tickets are typically more. Better seats on the lawn or closer to the stage are more, and certain pieces of famous music that the orchestra plays are typically more as well.

The music festival is always played by the Utah Symphony and the Utah Orchestra. There is a giant amphitheatre which sits on the ski slope that allows the symphony to play outside in the mountains. It is truly breathtaking as you sit outside on the lawn slopes, listen to the music, and watch the stars come out after the sunset. As mentioned above, the music festival is always sold out. They never cancel for weather, even when it is raining and stormy. In fact, my first music festival at Deer Valley Resort was in pouring rain.

I thought it would be miserable and I kept my fingers crossed that it would get canceled, but I am so glad it didn’t because it was an amazing experience. The resort even provided free rain ponchos so that everyone could enjoy the music and the festival in the rain.
Because the festival is outside, everyone sits in very low chairs on the lawn. There is an option to just sit in the grass or to bring a blanket to sit on, but no actual lawn chairs are allowed. This makes sure that everyone can see the festival without any obstacles.
I absolutely love this music festival. It is so much fun and in the most beautiful locations. Guests can even come in to the resort and see how beautiful the resort is and all of the offerings for the ski season in the winter.

This event lasts all summer long, starting in May, and ending in August. The festivals run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings with new music and artists every day. So, even if you come everyday next summer, you will never hear the same piece of music. This is really cool because guest artists come from all over the world to play and sing their works. This past summer, Kirsten Chenowith came, and it was a huge party.

One Saturday evening, the orchestra played Star Trek and Star Wars music to celebrate the anniversary of going to the moon, and that was amazing with guest artists from all over the world. If you want to be able to go the festivals for free, definitely sign up to volunteer! You get free tickets for the show that day you volunteer, as well as vouchers to come to another show later on in the season.
